Message from the Chairwoman

On behalf of the GOCA board and our global membership, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2020 and the new decade!

It is truly an honor to serve as your new chairwoman and I look forward to connecting with many of you in the months to come. Having served in the international aerospace field throughout my career, I appreciate the value of an association like GOCA and have seen firsthand how it benefits many of you and your companies. As chairwoman, it’s my goal to build on our 30 years of experience and make our field even stronger.

The GOCA board is already hard at work in several areas and I want to outline a few projects, which will benefit our membership and communities. First, I commit to focus on transparency of all GOCA operations – financial, administrative or strategic. We will use our website and other digital tools to provide more information than ever before. Without our members, there is no GOCA, so it’s important that you stay updated on our work.

Many of you know my background and remember that I was born in Finland, spent my childhood in Sweden and have been fortunate enough to live and work all over the world during my time with Boeing. Being both European and American, and as a true Thunderbird alumnus, also a “citizen of the world,” I’ve grown to appreciate why diversity and inclusion is so important in our lives and work. Our work improves when we include different voices and perspectives.

GOCA’s membership and network is global, as we have representation from across the world, but we can always do more to ensure that your voices are heard. The board also commits to a “year-round culture” where we communicate and educate throughout the year, not just before or during our conferences. At the same time, we have some wonderful new ideas to innovate and improve our conferences. These are an important educational and networking tool for the association.

Lastly, we have already activated a subcommittee of the board to step up our marketing and communications work, both internally and externally. The timing couldn’t be better as our group will roll out a historic change in 2020 when we change our name to the Global Industrial Cooperation Association (GICA). Expect to hear more about the branding change in the coming months, culminating with an unveiling at our spring conference in Madrid, Spain. I look forward to seeing you there in June!

All the best,

Maria Laine
GOCA Chairwoman

Upcoming Conferences

Update: 2020 GOCA Spring Conference Postponed until Spring 2021

Message From GOCA/GICA Board of Directors:

As we face increased uncertainty and a rapidly changing situation related to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) around the world, the GOCA Board decided to postpone the 2020 Spring Conference in Madrid, Spain until spring 2021. The safety and health of GOCA members, stakeholders and families is of utmost importance and we wish for everyone to stay healthy and safe.

There is no change to our plans to hold our next conference in Orlando, Florida from November 30-December 3, 2020.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the GOCA Management Team at [email protected]

Thank you for your support!

Maria Laine
Chairwoman, GOCA/GICA

Offset Matrix

GOCA is pleased to announce the launch of its Web-based offset matrix for its members. This can be a very useful tool to allow members (and ultimately non-members) to connect with other parties interested in offset in the same country.
